Yeah, I had the same reaction to 85-132, but then I saw his avatar and, well ...
Anyway, I just took the exhaust completely off and the bracket under the two bottom bolts had about an 1/8" of free play, so those bottom two bolts are backed out quite a bit. I need to run out and get some blue loctite and then I'll put put it all back together this afternoon.
Meantime, if anyone knows the new torque specs, please advise. I did a google and a bing search and came up with a lot of posts about the same issue. But nobody mentions a new torque spec (except dansflhti), I'll probably just take them to 18 ft-lbs and call it good.
Thanks again for the replies.
Mike
No need to kick me in the azz, I already did, sorry !
Tightened the same bolts on an 07 ultra. No more slobber.
Hey, hey now.....I'm just tring to be nice, gonna turn over a new leaf. Every time I be myself on here they call me an Asshat !
What da hell is that...anyway ?
if you can find one of those 45 degree garbage disposal unjammer
tools they are great for those bolts while exhaust is still on.
Part of my tool kit. Can't set torque though
What is disturbing here is 3 H-D dealers did not seem to know that those bottom door bolts loosen up and leak quite often. They all wanted to go $500+ to fix a problem that didn't exist. Just like they never seem to know that compensators go to hell or flywheels scissor or wheel bearings blow out causing the wheels to tilt.
They do know which chrome parts sell the best though.
Just fixed this leak on my 09 but had to drop the exhausts. Just got it back together tonight.
Saw this post about the garbage disposal wrench. Went in the garage and tried one and couldn't believe it fit. Sure would have made this job easier and would have only taken 10 minutes instead of several hours.
Great info for next time.

Just noticed exactly this problem on my 11 Road King (oil leak from the trans side door)... Called the service dept at the local dealer and they told me right away that is probably the two bolts holding the exhaust bracket... Remove em, re-locktight and torque em up. So their advice jives with this thread exactly. If it doesn't work apparently its a big job that requires the whole primary and trans removal.... Here's hoping that torquing down the bolts works!!!!
Can someone give me some more info on the tool I can use so I don't have to pull the exhaust?
