I got mine a couple months ago and own a 03 Softtail Classic. Definate upgrade, love the ride and power of the 103 with Stage 1 and Rinehart pipes. Installed my Garmin 550 and play my MP3 music in the system. I also had it lowered and added my back rest and highway pegs. I did have a short in my wiring so during turning my fuel pump would cut off. Took some time to find that and they replaced the complete wiring harness, no more problems. Heated grips feel nice in the cooler weather.
I traded my 2009 Ultra Classic on a 2013 Ultra Limited Anniversary (915 of 3750). Modifications I made to mine are as follows. Stage 1 Air Cleaner Kit, SE Pro Race Tuner, Vance & Hines Power Duals Header(No Cat), Vance & Hines Touring Ovals, Tour-Pak Luggage and Saddlebag Interior Light Kit, and Transparent Saddlebag Lid Paint Guard Kit. I honestly had no intentions of getting a new motorcycle, but had mentioned to the salesman at my dealer I would be interested if an Anniversary FLHTK had become available. He told me the two the dealerships were guaranteed were already spoken for, but would put me on a list. Just a whim, did not expect to get a call. Plus I already had everything I wanted on my 09, but have been eyeballing the Limited Model since I got my Ultra Classic. The Ultra Limited is worth every penny of the price above the Ultra Classic. I have never bought a new bike without having to resolve some issue in the first few weeks, but once the kinks are worked out things are great. The installation of the Paint & Lid protectors left them kind of hazy, and more air bubbles, than I was satisfied with, and the service department will install a new set when the bike comes in for its 1000 mile service. Also the factory heated grips have seemed to stop working, which I am sure they will take care of in short order. I also purchased the five year extended service plan with tire and wheel protection, since I plan on keeping this bike, and doing a lot of traveling. These bikes are well worth the money and recommend this model to anyone looking at Harleys Big Baggers.
Of course its a personal choice... but I own mine since Dec 1 st 2011, dealer gave me a great price so I did it,traded in a 07ultra removed all I could and sold or added it to my new 2012. I have added a few things cost is about 3,ooo but very happy with bike, color and HD in general. good luck and enjoy every mile!
Just catching up on this thread. I have owned my ultra since Jan. The 103 cranks out heat. Anybody here had one to quit on ya because of it? I went to do a parade and found out that this bike is not made for it. Hope I didn't trash the thing. I'm gonna change the oil and see what it does. Any experieced harley owners have any suggestions?
How would you "work around" the heat issue from the right side?? Fans or shields? My RK puts out a little heat on the right as well so I guess I am used to that, so long as the ultra limited is not too much hotter. Thank you.
I own a 2010 Limited that I bought new. I live in the very Southeastern corner of Kansas. The heat was just terrible even after removing the cat and installing Jack Pot slip on mufflers and a Screaming Eagle breather. It was so bad that I couldn't ride with the lower fairings on till around early November then take them off the minute it would start to get warm around the middle of March. All this changed when I installed SE 255 cams and had it dynoed at the dealership this last year in the middle of August. The heat was gone! I put my lowers back on was able for the first time to ride my bike to Fayetteville, Arkansas for Bikes and Blues on the last weekend in September with the lower fairings installed.
