Seriously considering...
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, my only concern is the "salt" storms we see in Central Maryland. They lay salt brine and salt before the storms approach, and when they never show, we have salt dust everywhere. This stuff will eat through everything.. I'll need to install a bike wash.
I have heard so many nice things about San Diego..maybe we'll pack our bags one day and head to the left coast.
I'm looking at Bushtec trailers for the days that I need to pick things up, ie.. grocery store, pet food, etc..
As for hail and lightning, I just pull under an overpass or stop at a gas station until it passes.. that's never fun to ride in.
I just can't help it.. I hate being in a cage.
Thanks again for you posts..

+1, seems the thing to do, that way if your wifes car should have a problem, or you be in a bind that you need a car, there's another one available.
Guess it all depends on where you live. While I would love to do that I would normally be screwed for about 3 months of the year with snow and ice. That being said, last winter we had so little snow there were only about 10 days I didn't ride to work. I must be getting old though...on those cold days the springer sat and the SG with the batwing was the ride of choice.
Only you can know for sure if it's practical, but sure if you can get away with sharing Mama's car now and then you can save alot in insurance, registration, maintenance, parking, etc. I hate cars and wouldn't have one if I didn't need one now and then (to haul hay for the horse, buy the occasional large item I can't get in my saddle bags or Tourpak). As it is I have an '02 Tahoe that gets me thru the days when it snows up here in the mtns where I live or it's just frigidly cold. But 90% of the time I can ride the bike year around in my case.
If one vehicle was all I could afford,Id ride an amf sportster or take the bus if really at that desperity level(been there done that). now that said,, I have to ware a 3 piece suite to work these days,so what I did was buy a used MB on craigs list, got liabilty on it,leave it outside all year...see where im going. This trick was told to me by someone else, the MB will last forever, can fix it myself, made to sit out in the elements,be abused, and not haveing to replace my new car every 5 years and getting almost nothing for trade...and people think i spent 50k when in reality its the cheapest buckette ive ever owned by far.

I ride my bike pretty much year round. I've got a 97 Eclipse for the days when it is most likely to rain. It sits for up to a month at a time without moving. The Limited gets the garage and the Eclipse sits outside and kills the grass under it. I paid $2500 for the Eclipse about four years ago. Nothing in it works except the motor and transmission are in great shape.
This works very well for me.

Don't let anyone give you any ****. If it works for you do it. I have a ton of respect for those who have only a bike. If I lived in a climate that was predominantly sunny, like SoCal or the southwest, I'd seriously consider it.
