Default Seriously considering...

So.. I'm seriously considering selling my car, that I seldom drive, and ride. I ride all year except when there is ice or snow on the road, and during those times, my wife and I can work out her cage. I hate being in a cage and the damn thing is costing me money as it sits, insurance and car payment.

Anyone else only have their H-D as their only source of transportation?

Why would you ask US if YOU should keep YOUR car?

Good luck with that.

I have my RK and my DR, and I, like you rarely ever take my truck. Wintertime last year was easy, and I rode most of it, but a normal winter here is pretty bad. Lots of snow. This is the only reason I keep my truck. If you and the ole lady can get by pretty easily with one car during a bad winter, I say sell the sucker.

You could always downgrade your current car for something a little less expensive.

I would sell it and buy a cheap reliable clunker. I only keep one nice car. The other two we have run and are reliable but have liability insurance only and we paid less than 1k for either one.

Back in 1978, all I had for transportation was my '78 FXS.....

I had no car for four years..... but....... I lived in San Diego, CA......!!

Even then, I kept two fresh changes of clothes at work for those days when I got caught in the rain..... which doesn't happen a lot in SD, but happens more than people would guess.

At the time I was wasn't married, so I had no car available to me. I was also renting. Going to the laundromat and doing my grocery shopping was a major challenge.

While it was doable, if I ever had to do it again, I'd probably have an old, cheap, reliable, no-frills car for those moments when having a car would really be great.....!

Back in the early 80's I had my 66 chevy caprice snow/ beater car - no radio- had a few dings in it, and my 750 Yamaha rice machine. Rode the bike pretty much when it was not snowing or raining.

Technically no. In my youthful years, in SoCal I would pick up used El caminos and fix them up for those days I needed a cage. When I sold one I would sometimes go a month or two between them. I also have been thinking of doing away with my late model cage for financial reasons. I looked at a 93 Festiva today for a buck and a half, wonder if I could get it roadworthy before the first salt spread. Good luck with what ever you decide.
