Well it happened to me today. The voltage regulator on my 2012 street glide went out just as I returned home from a 130 mile ride. My local dealer was able to get me right in. He looked at the date code and said it was in the bad batch. My only question if they know which ones are bad why dont they just go ahead and fix them?

 

How many miles you got on your scoot before this happened?

The MoCo did issue a product program to recall the voltage regulators in question. I was able to see my bike fell under the program from the HD website. As soon as I found it was under the program, I got my bike in as soon as the local shop had time. 20 minute swap and I was good to go.

 

Anyone know the build dates on the bad units?

 

Do these things just up and quit? Or sputter and then die? What are the symptoms leading up to failure?

Just got mine back from the Shop, It finally got warm here and in the midst my voltage started fluctuating between 11.5 and fully charging, as soon as it dropped the battery light and engine light would come on and just as sudden it would start charging again......happened at 2900 miles. Took 5 minutes to replace!
