Default Mpg?

I am not picky about fuel mileage but wanted to know if 34 mpg on my 99 eg standard is normal, it is a carb also. I have had a couple sportsters and just came off a v star 1100 silverado that was getting 46 mpg, this being my first big twin was curious. Thanks

It seems a little low.I usually get between 38 to 42 depending on how hard I ride.

My 01 Road King which should get similar mileage averages 44 MPG. Have had as high as almost 49 and as low as 37 but that was some shitty gas. If this is a new to you bike try running some Techron fuel system cleaner through it. Then let us know how it goes.

I did check and change the plugs they looked to dark , the bike also had a screaming eagle air cleaner insert on the cover so I'm not sure if it has had carb work done on it, the bike runs fine other then the idle going up a little when it is very hot

I road a 99 Standard for 10 years and would get mid to upper 40s on gas mileage at or around 60mph. At 70mph it would drop to upper 30s.

My 01 EG Standard with true duals, Andy's 26A cams, who knows what name slip ons and a k&n HD-1499 with the SE style back plate gets 42-43 pretty consistently. I got much worse before the AC/filter and tuning the a/f screw. Like 30-32.
