Default Hesitation/Power Loss 3000-5000 RPM

I'm experiencing what I'd call extreme power loss/hesitation between 3000-5000rpm on my 2012 Street Glide. I've got power commander V set up for dual maps (it does it on both my lean and my rich map, but maybe slightly less so on my rich map). I've got SE Air Cleaner and stock exhaust w/out the CAT.

This hesitation really only happens when I'm hard on the throttle... I'd estimate from about 60% throttle up to wide open. It's especially bad right before I get to 4000rpm.

Other than this, It seems to be running really great! and it only happens when I really twist the throttle. Under 'normal' acceleration, it does not happen.

This makes me think it's got to be related to the PCV and not being fueled correction in that rpm range and throttle position range. Before I go messing with the numbers too much though, I thought I'd ask for opinions.

thanks!

I think your right as far as what's wrong. You need to adjust the full throttle fuel flow.

i am wondering if ure scooter is knocking in that RPM range.. its seems its my issue too but i can see the knock hits on my Power Vision, not sure if u can see it on a PC V... i;m hard on the throttle too.. working on getting my tune adjusted...

I would check for an error code, especially related to the mass airflow sensor combined with the lambda sensor. If the engine can't detect the true airflow then measures a temporary 'too' lean combustion you will feel a sudden loss of power. Erratic contacts can be generated by engine vibration at any RPM and/or heat under a certain load can also cause this symptom.
The same applies to a sudden low logic voltage on the crankshaft sensor: it may not "sense" properly above a certain engine speed, so make sure all your connectors are seated properly and greased if you can.
Last but not least is the TBW pot in the handlebar: you could have a faulty contact on part of the race of the potentiometer.
I discovered at least two female contacts 'just-about' well seated in their multiple wire connectors and the front ABS connector not clipped/secured. Take an hour to check all wires going into their respective connectors by gently pulling on them and I'm pretty sure you'll appreciate the time you spent.
Good luck

Get your bike dynoed by a proficient tuner would be the best advice I could give you.

it could still be a fuel problem/ air, as when you accellerate hard the engine uses much more fuel per stroke than when you accelerate normally...so I would check the fuel and air filters as well as what the other guys said...

fuel & air filters are fine. It happens very consistently at about 3800rpm (according to the tach) and only at I'd say 60+ % throttle. It does not happen at all at throttle % below that. I've added a bit more fuel to the map in those rpm and throttle ranges and it doesn't seem to make a difference. Going to try adding a bit more, but I'm starting to think it's not the issue.

It is probably the plug behind the air cleaner to the throttle body. The throttle only opens to about 1/2 throttle below 3000 rpms and then opens the rest of the way after 3000. This has been happening on a friends trike several times. If it is under warranty you can take it back to dealer. Hopefully they are familiar with the problem. If in doubt about PCV and warranty I would remove it first. Bet it still has the problem. The plug seems to get water in it. The fix is they clean and put dielectric grease in plug which helps water proof it.

ke5rbd, I would have put money on your answer being the right one, BUT I removed the PCV and the problem was gone. So, it obviously is related to the PCV. I've run a zero map in the PCV, a canned map from dynojet designed for my configuration of AC & Exhaust, a very rich map and a somewhat leaned out map. The problem exists with the PCV w/all of those maps. The problem does not exist with the PCV removed.

I still haven't figured out the issue. Haven't gotten a response back from Dynojet yet. To add a little more info to this, the problem seems to be almost non-existent before the motor is fully hot. Once fully hot (around 230 oil temp or above) it becomes a problem again.

thanks for any input.
