Has anyone with no rear speakers upgraded to the Hogtunes front speakers and booster amp? Did the amp make any difference over the stock amp with Hogtunes speakers? It's about $220, I hear, and it would have to improve the sound quite a bit for me to buy into that mod.
Have seen it done both ways...Hog Tunes speakers with stock HK Radio Only
Complete upgrade with HT AMP and Speakers.
Either way sounds great, but with the HT Amp you get better Base response through the clearer speakers.
As far as value, thats only able to be answered by you and your actual want or need.
Another thing to think about is will you be wanting to add rear speakers? If thats going to be an option, you would be better off buying the speakers and amp. That way later on when you add the rears you will only need the pods, speakers and harness. So many choices ...ALL GOOD.

This is what I have now

This is what I'm considering, if I thought it was a meaningful change. The existing setup is quite good, but bass gets lost between me and the fairing. I wonder if decent bass is impossible on a motorcycle.

The relative nature of "better bass" is what I wonder about. Is it $220 worth? I suppose only hearing it will answer this question.

No, rears on this SG are out of the picture. I'm interested in how the amp will enhance the sound of the HT front speakers only.
I put them in my Road Glide, and I think it's sounds much better, buy the amp and speakers.......you wont regret it.
Did you ever have the Hogtunes speakers installed without the booster amp? The speakers make a big difference, but the goal here is to find out how much difference the amp makes after the speakers are installed.
I have the amp and four speakers. I had the dealer installthe XM radio then me and a buddy put the amp on top of the XM receiver and installed the speakers ourselves. The only hard part was getting the wires under the gas tank. Anyway back to your question yes it does make a difference. When you hold the stock speaker and hhe Hog Tune speaker in your hand the magnet is so much heavier in the Hog Tuneso I guess that makes the difference.
Find an independant shop that can buy them at dealer cost, they can normally get you a better deal tha you can by buying direct. I have heard great things about the hog tunes system. I will say that with the increased weight of the speakers, do not be surprised if those thin and cheap fairing brackets eventually break. You will notice your fairing shakes quite a bit when the bracket cracks. I have beefed up my brackets with some flat stock steele and they have held up to the added weight of the heavier magnets on my aftermarket speakers.
