So I am sure some of you use the trick of using a hi speed leaf blower to dry the water out of the nooks after washing your scooters. Especially useful living in a locale with hard water that leaves that impossible to remove lime scale on your chrome and black paint.
Last week I grabbed my B&D hedge hog leaf blower to do just that after giving my Ultra a good detail wash. It is one of those leaf blowers that can be reconfigured to act also as a leaf sucker/mulcher-bagger too.
Here is the trouble with marrying the really hot chick who may have "danced" her way thru college.......
I turn on the leaf blower and aim it at the heart of my freshly washed scooter and it makes this funny hi pitched squeek.....just as I start to realize what is happening ......KABLURPFH! 10 lbs of leaves, dirt and powdered dog **** hit my bike at 200 MPH.
Seems she did a little yard work for me and, it is beyond me how, managed to get the leaf blower more impacted than a 80 year old on a diet of MRE's and chalk.
OK.... that sucked.
couple of days later.... I have my 77 Ironhead chopper opened up in the garage. Busted a clutch cable which on the ironhead neccesitates removing the primary cover, exposing the wet primary clutch etc. Had to leave it whilst waiting for parts. I come home from work, wifey says "hey i cleaned out the garage, you know it is way better to use the leaf blower than sweeping it"..... UH... Oh, thanks babe...
Sure enough, she has managed to blow every single bit of dirt, dog food, and spent primers into my engine cases. "its OK babe, I needed to do a bottom end rebuild on that thing anyways"
Leafblower then met up with a 5lb block of tannerite....
Man I hate that for ya, I really do. I'm sorry bud, but I literally laughed out loud as I pictured you blowin dried dog turds all over your clean bike!

Calcium and magnesium carbonate in drinkable water are good for health but a pain for cleaning surfaces.
You can rinse with a light dilution of clear vinegar and tap water (to add acidity) then do another short rinse with straight water. This method removes/dissolves the most of accumulated dry residue (white stains) left by previous washes.
Avoid the sodium pellets water softener because you will discover it developed a sodium leak when corrosion has already eaten it's way into the aluminum of the engine!
