I have an '07 SG that only has one toggle switch installed on the inner fairing. I want to add another to power a GPS I'm adding. I've looked in the factory service manual and can't find anything. I have the switch, but it looks like adding it may not be an easy thing to do. Can anyone help me out here? Can I access the back of the toggle switch panel by removing the outer fairing or do I have to take the whole thing apart?
Simply pull your ignition and then remove a screw on each end of the dash coverplate with the toggle switches. Takes about 2 min and you don't have to remove the fairing at all.
Thanks, yes it was very easy. The instructions that came with the switch had me removing the gas tank! Not necessary at all.
The toggle switch is illuminated. It has three wires: black (grnd) and an orange wire and an orange wire with red stripe. I'm guess one is for switch power and other is the illumination wire. Does anyone know if I can just tie the two wires together with the hot wire off the gps? thanks.
the orange wire, and orange/red wire were power in and out. the black wire was to ground. Everything worked great including the switch lighting up when it was suppose too.
