Coming home from Big Bear Ca. @7000 altitude...coming down the mountain at about 3000 ft engine lost power didn't shut off I think it was in safe mode, idle at 1500 rpm. Shut down and restarted. It was fine until we were on freeway goin about 70 and it happened again in fast lane...pulled over and it restarted again and we got home with no other problems...Any suggestions on what it's doin?
09 streetglide tts master tune on it for about 35,00 miles currently has 46,000 miles on it glad I got extended warranty...
This would be a guess,Maybe the computer wasn't adjusting the fuel air mixture enough to compensate for the altitude change until you restarted the bike .I would have MAP sensor and O2 sensors checked.
There have been recent threads on limp mode, the best thing you can do is put dielectric grease on the ECM connection under the seat and the throttle body plug behind the AC. Mine did it out of state, not while riding though, that is dangerous.. It shoud have thrown a code or 2 that will help.
I second what DEPETE. I had a loose of throttle control. Engine went to idle and had no throttle response.
I was close to the dealer so I had them check it out and they stated the was some corrosion on the connection to the throttle body. They cleaned it and I haven't had a problem.
I did some research and found out that there is basically a duel system on the throttle. when you twist the throttle it send a signal to the puter and then to the Throttle body. and from the throttle body back to the computer. If the twin signal doesn't match the throttle management goes to limp mode.
