i need some help big time. i bought a 03 electra glide always loved the look of them, anyways i rode it and from the beginning there is always stuff u have to do to get it right so i dropped the back end and the stock bars bc after riding awhile my left shoudler would start hurting, so i went the cheap route and put a ten inch bar on there and still did it, then i decided to go to my old set up i had on my honda bc i loved it a 14 ape the one i got has a 10 inch pull back and now my shoulders hurt just as bad if not worse so i bouhgt a c&c seat to move me back thinking it was bc i was to close helped a lil but still not working, im 5'7 and i know this is a touring bike so the frame is dif im out of solutions the next step is buying dif bars to c what the prob is wondering if the pull back is to far back or the hight is eigther to tall or to short everyone says that 14 is the best size but im willing do try anything please help lol im at my witts end with this thing
First problem is you live to close to Clemson, that will suck all the intelligence out of you. Go Gamecocks! You are chasing the elusive comfort thing. The perfect combination of ride height, seat and handle bars - good luck. Many thousands of $ have been spent on thus quest. The only thing I can tell you is what worked for me, but trouble is it won't work for you. I have the hammock seat with khromeworks 2 + 2 handlebars, stock shocks and a backrest. Works for me and I could take a nap while riding.
Get your bike upright on a jack or something. Close your eyes and try to relax and put yourself in a comfortable position. Don't worry about where you bars are or if you hands are touching them, just get comfortable. Now get someone to take a side view picture. This should give you some idea of the problem areas and which direction to go. On the seat thing it is difficult because what feels great to my *** might be like sitting on cactus to your ***. Good luck
hahaha i can throw a rock at death valley, to funny im not ready to give up on the bike it just sucks bc im not a millonarie yet and dropping cash is starting to hurt lol what would be nice if anyone had the exact issues i had but thats like the gamecocks actually having a chance to be better than clemson thanks for the response enjoyed it
I installed the pull back highway bars on my 2000 Ultra and it made a huge difference.
I also added two sets of engine bar foot pegs and a rider backrest.
It's like sittin' on a couch while driving down the road.
Probably not the "look" that you're searching for but it sure works for me.
does anyone have a set of apes on theres? i love the look i got and ive tried that seat it works good thats why i got a seat from c&c backs u up and down love the seat just cant seem to get the bars right im wondering the pull back has the angle off for me
Rider backrest! Trust me its worth it. I'm still using the stock seat with no issues. I'm gonna put apes on it eventually, but like you dropping cash has started to hurt!!! The backrest relieves the stress off your back and shoulders while keeping you in a comfy position. You can also adjust it as you go. Best bang for your buck IMO.
I'm the same height as you and what worked for me is 12 1/2 inch Wild One Ape's, C&C Solo seat with backrest, lowered rear 1 inch, long reach Harley highway pegs set up so my heels are on the boards and toes are on the pegs. This puts me in a position where I just lean back into the backrest and have my legs in a position like if I had forward controls.I went with Wild One's Apes because they had a lot of pullback and I thought that was what I needed. Before this setup I had alot of neck and back pain. Hope this helps, good luck.
