Default Internal wiring questions

Hey Guys,
So I bought my bike with wild1 16"er's already on it. I decided I wanted something different, and my new bars should be here today or tomorrow. My question is, I started looking at the already extended wires. I think I'm more then capable of cutting and re-soldering the extensions. However, it looks like there's one orange wire that's coming from the throttle side, that doesn't look spliced. Should I tug on it a bit more, to see if Its stuck up there, or is it something i'm missing? Any help would be great. Everything else looks like it has a connection close to the bottom of the bars now.

cheers,
kyle

If you already have 16's why do you need to cut and solder? It should have been all ready done. Just remove the pins and re-install on your new bars.

I agree. Pull the pins. There is unused wires for heated grips

Wow i must be missing something. Is there pins closer to the controls? This is my first time extending anything. The wires were already extended, but I thought I'd have to cut them to pull them back through and get them through the new bars.

cheers,
kyle

you should pull the pins at the base of the handlebars. the wires go to the controls on your handgrips, so unpin them from the other side near the base... no need to cut solder anything.

Wow, that could have been a mess LOL. Thanks guys. You're all talking about pulling them from the connectors correct? The connectors that were in the nacelle?

Yep thats the way to do it. Im not the Service Manual police but after trying to do a few things and listening to everyone tell me to buy the manual i finally did. Would have saved me hours on projects already completed. It really is a must have if you're going to do your own work. Very detailed on how to get the wires out of the connectors. Just make sure you make a nice little deatil on how you remove the wires (which colors go where) from the connectors so you put them in the right places.

I actually have ordered the manual. Its just not in yet. Should be here Friday. Is there a specific trip to getting them out of the connectors? I saw how to remove the orange piece, but dont want to yank on the wires.

Look into the end of the connector. You'll see tabs for each pin, that you can gently lift up with a small flat-blade screwdriver.

Just be gentle. The whole rubber boot will come out, and the pins will actually come thru the boot.

Make sure you make a diagram though, of which pin/wire color goes to each slot on the connector. There are tiny numbers etched on the connector, where the wires pass thru the rubber boot.
