I decided to change all the fluids on my 2012 Road king. The bike has about 9500 miles on it. I have had the Dealer do the service up to this point but figured I can do this and save some cash.
When I drained the primary it seemed to look almost grey metallic in color and this was on the drain plug. Should I be concerned or not?
I've never had that much or as big pieces. Mine is usually very fine and not very much. I would change fluid again in 5K and check, if it looks the same I would be concerned.
well it was supposed to have been done at 1K (has synthetic put in all holes) Had it serviced at 5K ( was told they changed all 3 ) Went on a long trip to Boone, NC and the clutch came out of adjustment. I adjusted the cable to get the play out of the lever. I Had the dealer readjust the clutch when I got back home( not sure they adjusted it at the 5K service). The bike actually has 9000 miles not 9500.
Could this have been from when the clutch came out of adjustment?
Was going to take it to the dealer in the morning and see what they think.
A little bit of metallic paste or fuzz on the primary drain plug is fine, if it was splinters I would be concerned. I did notice there is less fuzz using Formula+ than with 20/50 synthetic.
you have ring gear or starter sprocket teeth chipping.......there's a lot of metal on those teeth, but at the rate your going...your going to loose some teeth soon. some folks only have fuzz which looks like grease on their plugs.....others have what you have.
