Default battery

Having trouble turning my engine after a 107" upgrade and headwork. Looking at the big crank battery from battery mart or odyssey. Does anyone have experience with these batteries?

Got compression releases with the upgrades? Don't just throw a battery at it.

What does your battery have to do with a tune? Take it to a good dyno-tuner and have it tuned.

He said "turning" not tuning. I assume he meant turning it over.

It's turning over hard because of the high compression, more-so when hot I'm assuming, even with compression releases...at least that's the way mine turns over...either needs the high torque starter or you can hit the starter button once for a second which brings the piston up to TDC, wait 15 or 20 seconds for the battery to build back its charge, then hit the starter button again and it will turn right over. Try it, its cheaper than a high torque starter...

Ah yes, now I get it!!! I wonder, was this a fuelmoto 107" build? What cams were used, and as Dawg asked, were compression releases installed?

Compression releases were missed on install by builder, help Dan out with a battery choice.

Does not have compression releases yet, planning to do that. Thanks Brad, you are right about hitting the starter button once and then waiting. I am sure the compression releases will solve the problem, but thought a stronger battery would help. Thought I would try a battery before I bought a high torque starter.

No prob...I have the auto compression releases and every so often the starter still kicks back...but not if you hit the starter button once 1st, then again...

The high torque starters are expensive and probably not needed, but hey, spend it, if ya got it!

I have the fm 107 kit. My installer recommended the compression releases. Said I was right on the edge of needing them. Sometimes I forget to hit them and it is hard to spin when hot. Of course this was after riding in traffic on 100 degree days. The releases will help a lot. Too bad missed on the install. I figured since it was apart it was the time to do it.
