So did you contact the manufacturer before posting in an open forum?
It's 9:30 at night on a Saturday...What do you think? Besides, what does contacting them have to do with anything? I haven't bashed them just stating my opinion regarding acrylic vs polycarb and last time I knew this is an OPEN FORUM which gives me the right to pretty much post anything I want.
Im my opinion the only windshield that should be on a bike is polycarb, acrylic crack if you tighten them to much, what would happen if something out on the road at speed hit one? No way I am putting one on my bike.
I have had two acrylic shield in the past. They both cracked.
The last one was a LRS Road King shield. It cracked after about two weeks. I parked the bike one evening with no crack and came out the next morning and it was cracked from one of the bolt holes.
In their defense I never contacted LRS. I had just learned my lesson and told myself I would never buy another acrylic shield.
I replaced it with a Klock Works Billboard Flare polycarbonite shield. The KW Billboard Flare is a terrific shield by the way.
When I purchased my Reckless fairing I installed a 7" Fastaire Aero polycarbonite shield. The Fastaire Aero is also a great shield.
Same for me - no more acrylic shields. My 1 yr old LRS cracked & pieces broke off at both outer bolt holes. I will not contact LRS, I will just buy a polycarb shield and call it a learning experience.
This is not dissing LRS. They were quick & easy to deal with for the original purchase, and the shield was low cost...BUT...you get what you pay for.
Quit throwing them "under the bus" without at least trying to resolve.
So being a 'forum vendor' exempts their products from criticism, and or scrutiny? From what I've read here NOBODY was 'dissing' LRS. Also, from what I've read previously on this forum, they do have great customer service. However, as the video posted clearly demonstrates, people
should be made aware of the significant differences between polycarbonate and acrylic windshields, especially in terms of the latters propensity for shattering and cracking, which relates directly to the amount of protection one should expect. If that equates to 'throwing them under the bus', then so be it.
