Default Brake Lines

I bought a 2012 SG today and am going to be dropping it back off on Tuesday for quite a few mods. One of them is putting on HD 12" mini-apes. With this comes a new brake line.

Now, I don't know much about them and the dealership quoted me at about $300 for the longer line (HD part numbers 41825-09 and 46566-09). Is there a better/cheaper option out there or am I stuck with paying that much? The bike has ABS and I was kind of shocked at how much the quote was.

Thanks in advance!

Anyone?

I've searched the forums and read a lot of threads about new bars....but it's tough to find anything specific on the front brake line.

Hell, you can get the whole front end setup from Magnum Shielding for less than that. I just had to replace mine due to the ape install and I think my whole setup from front calipers to the master cylinder was $180.00, and that was 8" over stock for my 16" Carlini's. Magnum stuff is really nice stuff!!

Good luck!!

You can buy the whole brake line and clutch cable for that price. Examples include Magnum and Barnett.

Maria is who I dealt with. She was a HUGE help when I ran into issues and really knows her products. Good luck!!

Me too....if you have a Road King.....PM me and I will give you the part#s I used........if you haven't paid or order the bars yet go up 2" or you'll be kicking yourself.... trust me always go 2" taller than you were envisioning in your head.

I'd like to have some ideas of part numbers...but I have a Street Glide. I read pretty much all of the handlebar threads I could find. I had originally planned on getting 10"s but ended up going with 12"s.

So now I'm having some issues with the dealership and getting numbers out of them for the new bars. They want to spend more time arguing with me over the lines from Magnum voiding out the warranty "if something goes wrong and it's determined the lines caused it."

So, they were trying to sell me a +6 line, 0* banjo line. From what I understand the stock bars are around 9" and a 35* banjo. With the 12" bars (HD part 57485-11) wouldn't I need a +3 or +4 line with 35* banjo?

I called Maria at Magnum (she says hi to all forum members she has worked with) and she said I need to verify the distance before she will let me order. She also said it should be the 35* either way.

Am I mistaken on my numbers or do I go by what the dealership was trying to sell me?

Question I've read...

...a few times, that you shouldn't have to replace any of the lines if your only putting on 12in mini apes.
Might be worth some more research.
Just out of curiosity, how much does the dealer want to charge for the whole installation?
