Just installed harley heated grips part# 56100034 on my glide. Start to finish under an hour all plug and play. Man do they get hot!! After all the horror stories about install time and grips going bad i hope these new design grips last a while. The install is no longer an issue because the late model touring bikes are pre wired. The only thing i had to do was pull the left side wire which is connected to the grip through the handle bar opening down to a hole in the bar under the radio. That part took 2 minutes as there is a lot of room in the left side bar. Then plug in the two color coded wires and your done.
it was so painless i thought there was going to be an explosion when i first turned them on!! LOL
I didnt know it was such an easy project. Are they the same as the OEM ones that come on the Limited? Anyhow, I typically I only need use setting 2 or 3. Even on the coldest days I usually dont need to go past 4.

yea i believe there the ones that come on the ultra. there just black rubber grips no bling,
Lol. On my 2008 it was a pita. I never got them for my 2010. I'll trust you here and get them for my new bike. You sure it's. THAT easy? Lol.
i know for a fact that 2011 and 12 are the same only because when i mentioned how easy it was on my 12 my buddy said his 2011 was the same. its easy to check just loosen the right side controls so you can remove the throttle grip and you will see the actual tbw set up. at the end of the bar there is a little black cap that you can pry off with a little screw driver if you see two little round holes then you have a pre wired bike. those holes are where you plug the heated grip into. it takes 5 minutes or less to check.
Heated Hand grips 56100034 - instructions are confusing - thanks SFTDYNA for the post
I just finished installing the the 56100034 heated hand grips on my Road Glide Ultra and if it were not for SFTDYNA's posting I would have wasted a bunch of time. The instructions that came with the kit are pretty much misleading and do not apply to all models. SFTDYNA was helpful by mentioning that the later model 2009 to 2013 Touring are pre-wired on the right handle grip. So on that side you just need to connect the grip - there are no cables to run into the handle bars on that side. If you see 2 small holes at the end of the TGS (Twist Grip Sensor) then your model is pre-wired.
On the left there are 2 cables attached to the hand grip - I did pull them through the handle bars using mechanics wire and tape. I found it easier to run one cable at a time - running the bigger connector first and then pulling the smaller one next. I did find that the cables are a little short for the Road Glide fairing but if you run them through the shortest path you should be OK. Remember to leave a little slack to allow for fork movement.
On the Road Glide you do have to remove the tack and speedometer housing - just 2 screws - one on each side - with the housing moved out of the way you will be able to see the center of the handle bar where the cables will be run through.
Again this was for a 2012 Road Glide Ultra.
