Went with a few friends across PA this weekend. Buddy had a new softail. He wanted to try my SG and I had never ridden one of the new Softails so we traded for 20 miles. All backroads at 40 to 70 depending on where we were.
Surprised at how well the single disk in the front felt and worked. Really liked the throttle with real cables vs the TBW. Liked sitting low as well. It had been a while since I rode a bike that was long, low and had a decent amount of rake. Took some getting used to in the turns but it was enjoyable. Slower handeling, but a lot of fun.
I wasn't a fan of the bike's overall smaller size or how the engine vibed above 65. It would make a great backroad bike, but would not want to take down a lot of highway miles on it.
Later on, we were sitting down for lunch and he did say that the thought of trading it on a SG did cross his mind when he was riding mine. That was good for some ballbusting and some laughs !
I went from an Electra Glide Classic to Heritage Classic to SG. I really liked the Heritage, but the SG is easier on my back over long trips. I like having the music too.
I did something similar when I had my Heritage. I switched with my buddy who had a 2005 Sportster. A few month's later he traded it in on a Night Train. I kept my Heritage for 2 more years.
I have a friend who has one. She has ridden the holy hell out of that bike. 08 with over 50k miles and she has a shorter riding season due to living in up-up-state ny.
I traded with my buddy who has a heritage and me a sg.We traded for about 100 miles and i couldn't get him off of my sg. He has now offered to buy my bike.
