Default Who knows their tuners

Ok i need to by a tuner, I am putting slip on pipes and high flow intake and now instead of paying for a download , i rather buy a programmer . but who knows which one is the better.

Or is their a package you can buy !

the best is probably the thundermax.

however i use nightrider.com xieds ( $125)- as my bike is a stage 1 ( hi flow intake and exhaust) and I won't be doing cams or headwork.

You don't say much about your bike or your riding style or future plans but you are most likely a great candidate for a FuelMotousa.com Dynojet Power Commander V or Power Vision.

You'll get a great price, service and a custom map designed for your bike. They sell the slip ons and AC units too and will sell you a "power package" deal that will work perfectly for you. Plug and Play. Bolt it on and go.

www.dobeckperformance.com

GEN3 comes pre-set for stage-1 & Chris can talk you through anything you can't understand. Pretty much plug & play then ride!

If a tuner is what your wanting and you've got $ to get one I agree with Mike, go Thundermax. If your trying to keep it realistic, the Power Vision or Power Commander is 2nd and 3rd on the list. Those with more experience with the PV will tell you its #1 simply because it flashes your ECM and then you can either leave it on or take it off. There's a Sticky thread on tuners that's a must read....so take your time and make a wise investment decision......now we should talk Auto Tuner attachment......but that's another discussion.

I wonder if the Thunder Max is better than the new screaming eagle pro race tuner and a good dyno tune . About the same price with a dyno or with in a hundred or so

Most popular ECM tuners out there are more than adequate but only if they are programmed by a competant tuner or come with a "spot on" canned map.... IE Fuel Moto. Choose a tuner that your indy is comfortable with and has a good rep.

Whats your skill level, are you willing to put in the time and effort to tune it yourself, or are you going to pay someone else to tune it. It takes a lot of research to decide what is right for you, they all have character flaws, unfortunately you usually don't figgure them out until after you buy it and start using it.

If your model year is up to and including 2009, put in a Rev Performance EMS system and ride. You can then make changes up to 20% of the power output of your build either way and the unit will self tune.

The only drawback is you have to send your ECM under the seat to Rev Performance for their adjustments as a one time deal, then plug and play. Quick turnaround no issues.

I've been running one now for ~ 6 months and couldn't be happier. Dyno tune? What's that?

Edit Add: Oops-- including model year 2010. Also no maps to mess with, downloads, tweaking etc. I have no interests in Rev Perf other than being a satisfied customer. You will leave a few horses and some torque on the table but I'm not interested in wringing out every last drop. More power to those who do though!
Engine runs cool, no decel pop, plenty of power with a simple stage 2.
