exhaust question, I know, sorry....
Am trying to decide on slipons, what is the difference between 3, 3 1/2, and 4 inch slipons in sound? I have some old V&H 4 inch slash cuts that rattle and have rust in them, I like a loud deep sound, any exhaust experts out there, is my first big twin, thanks.

Rineharts 4" have a nice deep tone. Ive had a lot of exhaust on bikes over the years and these are my favorite slip ons to date. The 3 1/2" have a different tone and IMO are a touch louder.

Exactly, I've had both also, on very similar bikes. The 4" is a good deal deeper, lower pitched than the 3.5"s. But the smaller ones have a nice crack to them that the larger one's don't. Your preference, I liked them both at the time.

the outside diameter ( 3, 3.5, 4 etc.) may or may not have much to do with the sound.
it depends on who made it, what they were trying to do and if the pipe is made for looks, "sound" or performance
larger diameter pipes may have a 2" central core with an inch of packing all the way around- the supertrapp supermegs I use are like this.
packing wil tend to absorb high frequency sound waves.
the density of any packing is important- if too open or worn away and there are cavities, exhaust gasses can loose velocity and direction in the muffler resulting in lost power
a narrower pipe may not have as much or any packing ( think straight pipes) lots of high frequency noise is projected straight out the back
sound is always subjective the smart move is to go to a bike event and see what bike you like the sound of, maybe ride along with the Guy and see how you like at speed.
loudish pipes can be pretty boring 90 minutes into an 8 hour riding day
the pipes I use are adjustable for sound, most pipes are not

I was looking at these, I know, their not $500 Rineharts, they come in 3, 3.5, and 4 inch, anybody try these or know anything about them? I mean the pipes, not the girls lol
