Problem with Electra Glide ****Please Help****
I got an 05 Electra Glide that has approx 43k on it. Engine is sound, runs strong, Dyno'd and tuned custom exhaust and the list goes on....I notice at about 70-75 a low pitched whining sound coming from the left side of my rear end. Is this a bearing issue and should I be concerned? It only does it at high speed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
check belt tension 1st- push up with your fingers in the middle of the belt between the 2 pulleys. with about 10 pounds of force the belt should deflect about 9/16" of an inch.
look for any belt wear or fraying ( it is normal for the belt to track to the outside of the pulley when the bike moves forward...and it'll track to the inside if you roll it back in the driveway)
2.) determine whether this is rpm related or road speed related.
in 5th 70 is about 3000 rpms- does it make noise at that rpm in 4th ( 58 mph) ( rpm related)
if it does it at 70~75 in 5th gear, does it do it at 70~75 in 4th ? ( road speed)
try to figure that out and that'll tell which direction to go in
