I rode my 08 Street Glide from Chicago to Denver and had a great ride... I was almost home when I changed gears my engine revved high in between gears..real high... I was able to pull the clutch before it took off so I'm not sure if it even would have.. I waited for it return to normal, which didn't take long, before I let the clutch out...
It didn't do it every time, but scared the poop out of me and I'd rather it not happen again...
O' God... I hope that's not what it is... It about drove me to drink trying to internally wire my handle bars.. I hope I don't have to take all of it out...
That happened to me and it turned out to be a bad intake seal. If the bike would vibrate just the right way, would let air in, which fooled the bike into thinking the butterfly was opening.
Yeah I found mine sticks on occasion and not return to idle. Got used to twistin it back all the way.....I didn't mind cable but haven't had any issues with the TBW even after I soldered my wires for the apes and used lots of heat shrink. Im guessing it was during the wire pull thru the bars, or the spindle on the end of the TBW sticking if its the original it might not be a bad idea to replace it before digging back into the wiring.
I had the same problem on my 08. It took three times before the found a broken wire in the bundle coming out of the faring going under the tank. If you turn the switch to run without starting and push on the wires the check eng light will come on.My mech spliced the wire and its been good for two years now.
My local dealers tech's ( part changers) replaced everything including the throttle body to the twist grip. Before I suggested ( info from these forums) they check between the back of fairing and gas tank. Sure as shiat pinched wires.right where the zip tie was too tight with not enough slack in wires, spliced in a few inches of wire all better.
Glad it was all under warranty.
