Need to remove the emblem at the back of the lid on my tourpak. The one in the indentation that says "USA" WITHOUT damaging the paint around it. (key objective)
Any tips? Heat? Something to weaken the adhesive? Just pop the sucker out?
Please don't say dental floss or fishing line. Bout the only thing thats ever accomplished for me was damn near loosing some fingers.
Not sure about the tour pak but I safely removed the tank badge from my 11 SG with just a one sided razor and a lot of slow patience. then some goof off for the raminder sticky.
But all it tkaes is one slip and you could have a scratch
i removed my tank badges with dental floss, you won't scratch the tank that way and i assume it would work with the tour pack emblem as well. you gonna need a few feet but i rather not put heat or a razor to my bike. when I buy a pack, i will 100% remove that thing too. all thats left after is to peel the sticky stuff by rubbing with your fingers

Just curious, are you planning on filling that indented space with something else? I have the same USA in my and it is OK. Are there some other optional emblems that can go in that spot?

A Razor Blade on my paint I'll pass on that. Floss or fishing string for me. A number of companies make various types of adheasive remover used in auto body shops.
i am with the fishing string crowd on this but i would say that from experience do not use a blow dryer and then run the fishing strings while its warm! what a mess of goo that creates. just work the fishing string under it then use the goo-b-gon to clean up.
The decal that he is trying to remove is in the indentation on the Tour-Pak ... It's going to be tough to get the dental floss/fishing line under that and not damage the paint in the area around it ... I would use the "heat and pull" method and then either some Goo remover or a bit of WD to remove the adhesive ... Good Luck Brother.

You're supposed to wrap the ends around wooden dowels, not your fingers.
Dental floss won't damage your paint. If you use fishing line, use 10-20# Braid
