Start with a hairdryer to warm up the tape. Then take a piece of monofilament line (yes, fishing line) and tie it to two sticks/screwdrivers, or something like that. Once you have the emblem heated with the dryer, use the mono like a hand saw. The emblem should come off fairly easy. If tape is left on tour pak, peel off what you can with your fingers. Then purchase a can of adhesive remover from Home Depot (it is used to remove decals, etc) and use that to remove the rest of the tape.
Let the goo gone soak a bit to soften up and penetrate then reapply and use the fishing line to get under if it does not peel off. Ought to come right off the goo gone will soften the adhesive but once it dries the adhesive will restick.
I always just yank the emblem off with my fingers and then use my thumb to push the tape off bit by bit. After that I pop my blisters and sip a brew while I admire my handi-work.
Warning! If it was repainted the painter "may" have taped around the emblem when he painted it and did not remove it. Seen it done before! It will leave the old color under it. Just a thought, you may be putting it back on. Let's hope not...
Acetone is for cleaning fiberglass and prepping for paint. But check out a small spot on the bottom to make sure your paint will not get screwed up.Rubbing or denatured alchol will take it off..Maybe even some Wild Turkey..
