Start with a hairdryer to warm up the tape. Then take a piece of monofilament line (yes, fishing line) and tie it to two sticks/screwdrivers, or something like that. Once you have the emblem heated with the dryer, use the mono like a hand saw. The emblem should come off fairly easy. If tape is left on tour pak, peel off what you can with your fingers. Then purchase a can of adhesive remover from Home Depot (it is used to remove decals, etc) and use that to remove the rest of the tape.

Used 'Goo Gone' to remove the adhesive from the reflector on the rear fender of my Sportster when I was going to install the backrest sideplates. Took a wee bit of rubbing but worked very well.
HaHa been there-done that. Having been in the bodyshop business for 35 years, you're right on the blisters, on small jobs it seems to work pretty well though.

I always just yank the emblem off with my fingers and then use my thumb to push the tape off bit by bit. After that I pop my blisters and sip a brew while I admire my handi-work.
