Anyone else have Corbin side covers?
In test fitting these covers Ifound that:
The cover-to-frame gap is more than the OEM coversand is really noticable since the Corbin covers are still gel-coat gray.
The rear crash bars have to be spaced up at the top for clearance.
The fit of the Corbin covers is not a simple pop-on, pop-off - this could be an issue if I were to blow a fuse on a trip.
The lower mounting point of the rear crash bar is exposed - goodbye Torx heads, hello chrome acorn nuts.
More rear wheel and whitewall can be seen.
Even a bit of the raw rear brake caliper [:'(]can be seen.
Gone is that stuffed chipmunk cheek look that the OEM side covers have - the bike looks 50 lbs trimmer.
All that smooth, clear space begs for an emblem or paint stripes - but what would look right?
Some of the negatives above could be cleared up with tweaks and paint.
What I'm looking for is any advice, suggestions or photosthat could sway meonwhether or not I should proceed with this project. I've got so little invested right now that there would be no hurt if I abandoned the Corbin covers.I'm just wondering if the results would be worth the effort.
