Default Hello and want input

Greetings all; my first post!

Graduated from metrics and bought a new (to me) bone stock 2000 Electra Glide with 21k on it. Plans are to turn it into a bagger.

Whats the first mod you'd make?

Default Bagger?

I thought an Electra Glide was a bagger.

welcome to the forums.

your bike in the pic is an ElectraGlide Classic FLHTC.

we tend to call all the bikes in the touring family a "bagger", or "Geezer Glide' or "bugger" when it won't start

Touring bikes are FLH or FLT series and all of the same model year would share the same frame, drivetrain, suspension etc.
The difference is in the amount and type of fiberglass hanging off them, and cosmetic changes, badges, bars, wheels, seats etc

the Road King is the FLHR
the Ultra is the FLHTCU

if there is an "I" on the end that means fuel injected ( although all 2007 + are EFI)

the FLTR is the Road Glide which has the 2 headlight sharknose frame mounted fairing

this is the Harley Alphabet soup which almost but not always makes sense...the first letter used to denote the motor size, the OHV 61" was the "E" but Harley failed to go from "F" when the OHV 74" went to 80" ( and the "G" had already been used for the 45" servicar motor...)
So F can be 74", 80", 88", 95", 96" or 103"...

...nice Ford

Metrics...I have some.

2 wheels move the soul

Mike

Seeing the beige SUV in the background, the first thing you should do is ask your wife how much riding she is going let you do and then start making your list of mods.

Welcome to the forum! Great looking bike you have there!

I'm sure these guys will help you spend your money, but the first thing I did was check my cam chain tensioners for abnormal wear. Mine were fine but there are plenty of stories of those things wearing out and hosing engine components. Pretty easy procedure and worth a little time and a gasket. I left mine stock, but many here upgraded to hydraulic tensioners or gears.

Enjoy the bike!

Welcome to the forum, glad to hear your a Man now !
Always did say that metrics were for women and children....

Your probably referring to the Street Glide as your bagger, which is essentially the "Hot Rod " of baggers.

Congrats and welcome. Beautiful bike! You have to tell us. What part of this bike do you believe holds it back from the title "bagger". I'm confused.
