Well, tomorrow is the day I put my Fulsac conversion kit on. Got the bike in the storage unit with the manifold bolts and heat shield screws soaking with penetrating WD-40, gonna stop in the morning and spray them again and also the slip joints I can. Also changing the oil and getting it and the trailer ready for the trip to the Freemasons Riding Club Rally at the HUB in Marble Falls, Ar over Labor Day. Sure hope those nuts come off the studs with out a lot of problems. The one accessible from the rear looks like it could be a bitch. Gonna get me a deep scocket tomorrow at work. Any suggestions?

just did mine a couple months ago, love the sound, was easy, just follow the directions, the rear manifold bolts came out on my 99 with no trouble.

Go to Sears & get some "swivel-ends" for your sockets. They have the 3-pak (1/2", 3/8" & 1/4" drive) and I use them all the time for those "tight" areas...especially header/exhaust bolts.

I tore into it this afternoon. Took a while to get it apart, even with soaking all the bolts, nuts and clamps, etc. Finally got it apart and found the y pipe cracked all the way across the top. No damn wonder my *** was getting hot. Got it put back together, took about an 1 1/2 to put everything back and check for leaks, etc. Rode it to the house and downloaded the map Fuelmoto sent me. Will give it a good ride tomorrow and clean it up. Man it sure opens the right side up and should really cut down on the heat on that side. Guess I will put the rj's orginals back on, just for looks. Thanks everyone for your tips and encouragement to do it myself.
Took some pics, but for some reason the damn phone blurred real bad. Will take more tomorow.

The cracked "Y" pipe is a more common problem than most folks realize.

I had my 2000 Ultra in the shop for the S/E Hyd Cam Kit update and the indy called me about my pipe being cracked.

Good thing you had a new pipe on hand!
