Default Speedo/Tach Combo

Hi all, I have a 2006 FLHRI and I wantedthe Black Face Speedo/Tach Combo Unit.
I checked and double checked and found that there is only onepart number for this unit, in MPH, for my bike.
That would be the 74549-04.
There are no other optional units listed.
So I got it last week and went install it today.
It's very different from the original in the way the plug comes into the back, the plug is the same, it come in higher, so that more cable is needed to reach.
I have a Part Catalog for my bike, so I looked up the part number that should be on it, and it's different!
I have had, for a year now, the stock speedo with the PN 67410-04R and the Parts Catalog says it should be 67033-04A.

I attempted to install it anyways, and was able to find enoughwire in the trunking to get there, but it's not a professional job IMO.
The only thing I see that concerns me, beside the way wires are now routed, is that the odometer is now visible all the time, not the backlight, just the LCD.
This was not the case with the stock unit.

Any of you pros have any ideas on the PN differences, what issues I could cause by using this one,or this odometer LCD thing?

I installed the same one (74549-04)on my2006 RK I ran into the same thing with the connector. I was able to gain enough wire by working with the harness and pulling a little bit.

My mileage indicator stays on all the time too. I was told by the H-D service department that is just the way it is.

Be careful on the connector that plugs into the speedometer and make sure you have it completely seated. After about 500 miles mine came out and I had to re-connect it.

Installed the combo speedo/tach on my '07. Nice to have the tach, but now I no longer have a clock. [:@]

The mileage stays on all the time on mine also.
