Sorry to hear about the accident. Since you could walk away your day got a whole lot better. I had the same thing happen to me. Got nailed in the lower back by the front of the taxi cab hood. Driver was busy talking with his passengers. Took a while to get up and eventually able to walk around. At stops always check the mirrors and have a planned escape route.
That totaly sucks man!
At least you are ok, that's the main thing.
I'm not litigious but I hope he/she has good insurance.
How's the bike ?
There is just no excuse for that sh#t man, not paying attention and having to lock them up at a light is BS.
They should make him/her take an advanced drivers course before letting him/her drive again or something harsh, whoever it was could have killed someone.
I always try to leave an out when stopped just in case and watch those mirrors man, I have had to do it a few times pull along side the car I am in back of to avoid being hit, then it's on.
I'm 6'3' in boots 250 on a good day you dont want to **** me off on the road, I do masonry for a living, when I get mad sh3t breaks.
I dont have road rage but I wont hesitate to tell you where you just f#$%%d up, and maybe offer you some free advice.
Done it a few times, I hate bad drivers, I have kids on the road too so I really take it personally when I see it.

Also, a back injury can sit idle you wont even feel it right now and in several hours or tomorrow you could find you have sciatic pain and a blown disc or other back injury, if you do start feeling pain insist on an mri to check for damage x-rays dont see anything like an mri and you wont find it with an x-ray unless it is really bad.
I hope in your case you dont have that happen, but just beware of your back today and tomorrow.

Glad you're OK and able to talk of your experience.
I almost got the same thing leaving a H-D delaership last week.
I saw the car coming up behind me really fast but I was at the corner of a busy street and couldn't move.
Thankfully the driver was able stop but it scared the crap out of me.
People shouldn't trust their brakes that much, especially when coming up behind a bike.
I've survived several vehicular attacks in my life and thankfully have been able to walk away with only sore muscles and minor scratches and in most all of these accidents, it could/should have been much worse.
I never wanted or got a single dime for personal injuries, just money for my vehicle(s).
Not being permanently injured or disabled is a blessing.
Sitting
in McDonalds waiting for my wife to pock me up now. I would be out on my bike but someone decided to hit me from behind at a light, I heard screeching and I looked in the mirror and I saw a car coming a little fast. Not enough time for me to dump the clutch, I had it in first. Pow she knocked the damn thing right from under me, I slid on my azz and left elbow. Paramedics came and checked me out, I'm walking away with scrapes and bruises.
Over all I'm. Pissed but its a good day. I'll live to ride another day!!!!!
Sure am glad you're ok. That's one of my greatest fears. I always try to have a direct escape route at any place I'm stopped in traffic, if nothing else, so I'm not sandwiched between to vehicles.
Since you're obviously going to pull through, how's the bike?
2amguy:
When that happens, the driver of that car and I meet briefly and I think they are a little more cautious after that, at least around me they are, I have seen a few cry, lol.

I see you're from Jersey! I'm glad to "hear" you are OK and will live to ride another day - but - if you were smart enough to purchase PIP (in NJ $500,000 max) get yourself a lawyer and let him do his thing! I couldn't care less about anyone elses feelings about lawyers, ambulance chasers or any other crap! You can bet your *** that everyone else is lawyered up and out to screw you for what you're worth!
lol, the NY/NJ crowd is always lawyered up and looking to go to court or better settle out of it, just something in the water.

I was previously the victim of a head on collision (in a car) where the other drivers insurance company explained life to me. I though I'd be nice and contact them direct, giving them a chance to JUST PAY MY BILLS and let me get on with my life. Their explanation was a simple one. They advised me to "get a lawyer" because there was no way in hell they would pay ANYTHING without one. It was a poor choice for them to make!
Something in the water? I think not. Just a fact of life EVERYWHERE!
