Makes no sense to me either Bob. You sacrafice ride quality in most cases and make the bike harder to re-sell as the next guy probably won't like the mod.

What I would like to add is that there is a very distinct difference in riding any Harley solo, compared with riding with a passenger. On every shock thread here on HDF there will be positive comments made about 'brand X' shocks, but with no reference in most cases of them being used with a passenger.
Our poor passengers do not enjoy the same riding experience as the rider! The rider sits over the swingarm axle, while the passenger sits over the wheel axle. If you have a favourite passenger, when shopping for new shocks, keep in mind your passenger's comfort, not yours! They will thank you for it.....

Funny how opinions differ. I always thought the stock height made these things look like gigantic, top heavy motard bikes. Never could see why a highway cruiser needed the ground clearance of an enduro...till I rode a stock one, and felt the huge amount of brake dive.
