Cops and apes
Beautiful sunny day in Ontario, out for a ride with my 60 something year old dad, him on his stock street glide me on my 14 inch ape hanger road king. Police cruiser follows us for about 10 miles then pulls around dad, cuts him off and throws on the lights for me to pull over on the side of a busy county road with about 3 feet of loose, slanted gravel shoulder on the side of a steep hill. While im trying to keep m bike upright he first demands to see the DOT stickers both inside and out on my helmet. When that doesnt yeild a ticket he "asks" to search my saddle bags. I politly say no thanks. Then he tells me my pipes are to loud. I say "happy to pay ticket after we do a decibel check". Doesnt have a decible meter with him. On to the next thing. Your handle bars are to high for saftey. Out comes measuring tape and sure enough my bars are 5/8 of an inch to high when compared to my new low riding seat. $110 fine and he says he was doing random bike checks. Never looked twice at my dad. Im a late 30's freindly guy with some tattoes. 6 feet and change and a little shy of 300lbs. I dont where a vest or colours. I support anybody who has to do a crappy dangerous job like the police and yet i seem to be the guy who constantly gets stopped. This is the second time out with my dad and iv had many other stops on my own. What am i doing wrong or is this just "chip on your shoulder" stuff?
