I don't care what anyone says profiling does exist. Whether or not it is at the official level or not I don't know. When I had a restaurant job in college and I worked in a district with a lot of night life and finished work at 1-2am. I was very likely to get followed for a few blocks by a cop car and occasionally stopped for some minor infraction on my way home. Lost count of how many times this happened. I think in reality they thought I was possibly DUI given the time and place and wanted to check me out. The perceived infraction was just an excuse to pull me over. 95% of the time if I was pleasant and explained why I was out I was given a good night and drive safe that was it.

They actually generate alot of revenue. More than a ticket does. Calls for service are usually made by citizens of that area, (Tax Payers). Those calls for service by tax payers pay my salary. Our particular department sees less than 10 dollars of every ticket written. And just for the record, here in Louisiana, you get paid per hour, not per ticket. (Unless you are working a specialized Grant paid for by the federal government's NHTSA, in which case there is likely a quota, but that comes straight from the feds) And there is no bonus for writing tickets, it's just considered part of your daily duties. Sounds like to me, if I were the Original poster, I'd raise hell about this particular incident, file a complaint with the police department, then challenge the ticket in court. (Not sure what the criminal justice system is like in Canada) But there are many ways around tickets these days.

Didnt mean to turn this into a discussion about hating police. I like and respect them. Just get frustrated that im the dude who always seems to get "random roadside checks". 8 in 4 years now. Usually when they find out im a father of 3 workin hard and payin taxes off i go. This time it didnt work out. I will not be fighting the ticket as its not worth my time or aggrivation and he was justified in writing it as my bars are 5/8 inch to high. Live and learn. Gonna start wearing a pink shirt and a white helmet and maybe they wont stop me.....
