I'm a LEO, (my handle may have given that away) and I, nor any of the LEO's I know give a rats @$$ about bikers. I don't even give them a second look (after I see what their riding that is). Clearly I am a biker myself, and even if I wasn't I still wouldn't care. Its my experience that aside from the occasional fecal bird on a crotch rocket, bikers (1% or otherwise), are mostly (traffic) law abiding, and safer motorists than 80% of the drones on 4 wheels. Bikers are just out for a good ride, and want to get from A-B without road rash and broken bones or worse. Granted if I witnessed a biker do something dangerous, i.e. blow through a red light, stop sign, etc, causing an accident, that would be a different story. But I haven't run into that scenario once yet in 8 years.
This is not to say that there aren't jerks in my line of work. There are in any given vocation. You know that old line, one bad apple CAN spoil the whole bushel. Well I say don't let this guy get you down. I haven't me another cop yet that carries a DB meter, or even a damn tape measure aside from the State Troopers assigned to the DOT squad. (they are only concerned with truckers here in the north east). Look up the M/C laws in your state/providence, know them, and know your rights as well. Ride safe.

If you don't have 'protect and serve' on your squad, your the type of cop that should.-Thanks
Ontario canada. Think i just get the "bad apple" in every county i go through. Im a proffesional driver and i act that way on my bike. I think its just mild profiling because i look slightly "rough around the edges". This was outside of a town called Barrie on the side of Horseshoe valley road. NOT changing bars. NOT changing pipes. 9 out of 10 LEO's give me thumbs up. 1 out of 10 thinks i should "learn a lesson". Always seems to be the short LEO's thAt i have a problem with. Coincidence?
Didn't say lowest part of the seat. Said highest part of the seat.
I think this is CA. Would a Canadian cop care about a DOT sticker? Maybe they do.
I think it was California, he said Miles in describing his ride,
And In Canada cops are just starting to ticket for loud pipes in some towns, with noise by-laws, but mostley worry about caggers in my experience, but i drive a Ultra with Rineharts, big bore, mild cam, and HD helmet so i blend in.
Just outside Barrie? That would be OPP then, they are usually pretty good except when assigned to traffic detail, usually a focussed effort based on some sort of flavour of the day. Take it in stride and if you check the traffic regs closely and do your own measurements you can go to court and contest the ticket. The issue is only about the height of the bar, not the other things, they are extraneous. Not enough people contest the tickets, generally the cop doesn't show up, or at least it inconveniences the system a bit.
The other thing they hate is letters of complaint. They have to be answered, and they go on their file.
Interesting link to the maximum height link across the US, not sure if it is current or not but it really points out the inconsistencies you would run into if you were driving across the country!
