My 2012 Ultra made some odd noises from day one (like spark knock) and exhaust leak. Complained @ 1000 mile check up and was told everything was normal. So I was content to live with it. Now with 5100 miles I thought I would see what the plugs looked like. Hell they weren't even tight. They looked good though, so I put a dab of anti-size on and put them back in. While I was down there I checked wires going into coils. One was only 1/2 off. Runs like a whole different bike. Was always suspicious since oil was not to correct level, trans was so low didn't read on dip stick and primary was was over filled to new motor capacity. So be sure you get what they say you got at first service. Personally I think the FREE service I got as part of the deal was nonexistent.
...just washing the bike with a rag can loosen the plug wires, and in your shoes I* might be closer to blaming myself for not doing comprehensive pre-flight checks.
so you drove 4000 miles with a loose spark plug wire and a loose plug and had noises and stuff?
That sucks, I wonder how that affected your later break in points if at all.
I mean if you are driving according to break ins and your bike is running wierd I just wonder how that is for the motor?
Glad you looked and figured it out, I try to check all that stuff before and after any stealer service, but no more warranty or free services means unless I am stumped no more dealer, just a good service manual and some new tools and a little patience.
Check your bike, check it twice and keep those fluids up to par always to protect your motor/tranny
