Default Passing Lamp Wiring Question

For those more familiar than I about wiring lights on the Harley.. I'm putting Passing Lamps on my Street Glide.. I haven't used these connectors before, putting these clips into the plug.. I assume I crimp these connectors on and seat the metal clip into the plastic clip from the back.. I thought at first that you'd push the wire through the plastic clip, crimp on then pull back, but the wire doesn't appear to go through? So is that right, crimp on then push in from the back?

Also, I'd appreciate the wiring information on how you wire the Passing lamps so they stay on with the high beams.. I know there's a wire harness, but if I remember it's a simple wiring jump I read somewhere on this forum.

You are correct. Crimp the connector on after you run the wire thru the mounting bracket and sheath and insert from the back of the connector. The wiring mod is here. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...ee-w-pics.html

Yes...these are called "duetsch" connectors and are a bitch to crimp correctly w/o proper tool. I bought this one online, based on another forum member's recommendation, and it worked great.

I did just this. I pulled my connector down and if you look at the back of your connector you will see numbers. i put the #2 wire into the #7 slot. Doing this allow my lights to be on all the time and be opperated by the acc switch.

You can try to crimp those with something other than the proper tool, and will likely fail, and probably ruin the plastic plug trying to put them in. The crimping pliers are als a "die" and size the terminal perfectly for the plug ins.
