Got to meet the local law enforcement this weekend.....
I was just moving along a nice stretch of Rt. 64 out of Savanna, IL headed to Anamosa, IA going to JP Cycles yesterday and what would you know there was a local law officer coming the other way. Too late for me.... He hung a u turn and pulled me over... He was nice about it and only gave me a written warning for excessive speed (68 in a 55).
Figured it's a holiday weekend and they were just out showing a presence.
Got talking to a couple people at JP and found out these 2 towns are cracking down on speeding and other things.
So if your headed across Iowa on Rt. 64 when you see the signs for the towns of Miles and Preston (I guess they share law enforcement). Watch out. One fully marked Preston/Miles Black Dodge Charger and one unmarked Black Dodge Charger are lurking around.
BTW his buddy, the unmarked one, was sitting, waiting as you came into Preston traveling east on Rt. 64. Just keeping an eye out......

Reason: more to the story
lots of folks on bikes here this last weekend... lots of knuckleheads on bikes too. those few apples are ruining the barrel. don't know how many had to rattle windows on the way into town (savanna).
won't be long and they'll be sound checking too i'd imagine.
A "written" warning? What does that mean? Never heard of one before. Does it mean that they're keeping you in their system?
Here in KY we do have wriitten warnings and yes if you get one you are in the system. It does not however, show on your operators license. You would be surprised what a data base with a simple written warning or as we call it a "Courtesy Notice" means to law enforcement. We have searched the files and have solved some pretty big cases just because we have the information on a suspect from a simple traffic warning. Happy trails...

I just poke along thru Savanna.... There were a TON of bikes lined up on 64 by the Iron Horse Social Club......... Intresting place to stop between the historic bikes in their private showcase and the drunk girls/women flashing their boobies and falling off the wooden horse!
The towns I mention are 20-35 miles west of Savanna on 64. Miles / Preston.

Basically yes...... I got the modern day slap on the hand. If I do it again within X amount of time it will show up I was given a "courtesy" and won't be so lucky next time......
