+1 on Motorcycle Metal. Give Howard a phone call and you'll see the attention he places on settting up bikes according to what the rider wants and needs.

Agree on Ohlins - I switched mine at 500 miles or less - did not like the stock air shocks at all. I have the #3-3's which is over the $600 budget. I am sure the #2's would be a big improvement and keep you within the $600 price range.

I have 07' Road King Classic, I tried different weight oil in the shocks,it did helped with the firmness, but I still thought I could do better. I kept reading (on this forum) about progressive 940's and what a huge difference they made over stock shocks. I ended up putting a set on my bike.I think this one of the best mods I've done to the bike. I'm very happy with them.
