P.S. I have raced just about everything out there and was a three sport collegiate athlete. I now spend my days in human cancer genetics research at the OSU Medical Center fighting the fight for everyone regardless of the way they live. Go **** up another tree.
Oh damn. **** off, nobody cares. Or believes, for that matter. I hope you have thirty children, your genes MUST spread.
But I'm ashamed at myself. I pride myself in my low post count and here I am wasting one one you. Don't mess with Drunkanfu, he sees all.
In fact.... that's the reason I'll never be on it again.
Easy trip (half day there and back.) Been three times. All three times there was a rider in the ditch. Don't think that one in particular lived.
I can ride my own ride... Just can't controll the oncoming idiots with something to prove "loosing that line" for "just a instant" and changing the rest of my life forever.
Perhaps if ya had better controll of that beast, your footboards wouldn't be in the shape they're in.
Wanna see something impressive (STUPID/INSANE?)
Search YouTube for a dude who rips the Dragon on a yellow 'Wing. Doubt many sport bikes could hang with him.
Impress yourself bud, just don't take out anybody innocent when that "ut-oh" moment happens.
I can do the Tail dragging the boards but the last 5 times i did it i was worried more about the oncoming traffic...Too many idiots and i don't let the traffic behind me worry me too much...If i find a spot to pull over then i do but other than that i pay my taxes and can ride that road at the posted speed limit if i damn well please.
There are much better roads in my opinion.

Just sayin'

Maybe he's moved up to a new "yellow 'Wing", but quite a few years ago I was crossin' the Dragon in a light rain. Headed from Foothills Pkwy. to The
Crossroads of Time. Bike comes up behind me & waited till we got to a reasonable passing spot for me to move over & let him past. Guy was ridin' a 'Wing with no bags, just a tour pack. Looked a little ratty. He passed & started haulin' ***! Didn't look like someone that would know what he was gettin' into, so I picked it up to keep him in sight. When he finally lost me I started watchin' the edges for signs of a crash. When I pulled into Crossroads he was puttin' gas in that 'Wing. He hollered a "thanks" for lettin' him by, & we struck up a conversation. Turns out he filmed a lot of the sport bike runs on the Dragon. He had a tour pack full of VHS tapes for the old owners. We watched some of 'em, & he could follow a sport bike through the Dragon & never loose a foot on 'em. Guy knew how to ride that 'Wing!

He's known as "Yellow Wolf". He used to have a web site, Google him.
As far as speed goes - theres no way a like skilled rider on a true sport bike wont be able to outrun ANY tourer. The weight difference alone will determine that.
FWIW I've NEVER been held up by a sport bike on the Dragon.
If you think you're fast on the dragon with your tourer - that's because you haven't ridden against a real canyon carver. 3 curves and bye bye! With ease! With an average rider!
Had a guy on a Ducati blast by me at well over 100 mph on the Charohala, up to a 90 degree hairpin. Thought for sure he was gonna be a pizza on the stone face of the turn. He went through it and the next curve (that's as far as I could see him) smooth as silk. The guy has my vote for best handling skills and biggest brass ***** - hands down!
Apples and oranges my friends....
As fast as you think you are - there's always someone faster. Always.
I would love to get to the Dragon some day. I would not try and set any speed records though. Just enjoy it at a moderate speed. I try not to test my riding limits where others can either interfere or get involved if I pass my limits. I have been down Spearfish Canyon many times and seen guys in cars and bikes using both lanes to maintain speed. I do not want to see what happens when they misjudge there abilities or luck.
Leaving for the Dragon two weeks from today for 4 days. My second time up there and going to try it at least once two-up. Wife is going this time and we are going to hit all the great rides up there.
