Default Tire Direction

Hi all I was wondering if the yellow marking on a front tire has to go on the valve stem side and if it does does it make a difference what side the valve stem is on? Thanks

The painted on dot is intended to go at the valve stem for balancing(not always perfect). If a large amount of weight is needed, a good installer will move it away from stem and recheck, for a better balance with less weights.
The arrow dictates the direction the wheel must be turning.

I currently have 407 on my bike the yellow marking is on the right side as is the valve stem. Now I have an American elite tire and if I put it on the way the directional arrows point that puts the paint mark on the left . Now I now I can reverse the wheel and line up the valve stem with marking and the arrows pointed in the right direction but that will put the valve stem on the left side which is my question does it make any difference what side the valve stem is on ?

Follow the arrow, who cares what side the yellow dot is on? The valve stem causes the wheel to be out of balance, the yellow dot is attempt to mount tire in such a way to offset that.

The yellow dot indicates the LIGHT spot on the tire. It's placed at the HEAVY spot on the wheel. A good tire man will balance the wheel bare to determine where that is.

The valve stem goes on the RIGHT side of the bike. It's a lot easier to get to when the bike is on the jiffy stand.

The arrow points in the direction of rotation no matter which side the dot or the arrow are on.

The valve stem goes on the RIGHT side of the bike.

The arrow points in the direction of rotation no matter which side the dot or the arrow are on.
..............and if you didn't have a yellow dot or any other color dot you can follow these directions and be sure that you have things mounted correctly.
