We took part in a Teddy Bear run yesterday leaving from a stealership in Dover. While there I was admiring a CVO RG in the Gold/Green colors. Salesman asked if I was interested and told him no as I have the sergu and can't live without the Ultra package. Mentioned I've seen the orange and gold now, haven't seen an anniversary yet. He replied " it's $3k more than this one". I told him MoCo's website list only a $1k premium and his reply was "Dealer Markup". It's nice to see some peeps getting them for msrp.
They had a GORGEOUS anniversary edition right inside the front door. And, you have to sit down + talk seriously before you'll get bottomline prices. Best if you see one of the senior salepersons like Matt Perry, he can meet/beat anyone out there. Probably why they outsell everyone in the area.
Yeah, I'm in the camp that thinks every 5 years is overkill. Every 25 years and keep quantities limited that is more like it. Even then though, people are in the mindset to keep "collectors items" stock and who keeps a Harley stock?
As it is you just end up with a "dated" bike. For example, you see a 2006 and you might think it is a 2012, but you see a 2008 coppertop, and you KNOW it is a 2008.
As with all HD's, your gonna customize. I originally wanted to buy a simple 883, noting fancy, the wife came with & said no, if your gonna buy a Harley your buying that one (105th anny) adding another 12K to the price.
Although its ONLY A SPORTSTER I have modified slightly but have found her to be a rock solid bike.
The interesting thing is that the clutch, SE exhaust etc are better than the 883. I've not had one problem not of my doing and at 90,000 KM running 100% synth oils it runs great.
To all that say no difference, to me that ain't true, to those that trade bike all the time, too bad, mines staying under me for some time.
I had a deposit (and was first in line) on an Anniversary Edition Limited.
At the time I placed the deposit I told the salesman that if I didn't like the colors that I was not taking just for the sake of getting an Anniversary bike.
Well, I saw the colors and I (and my wife) didn't like them so I got my deposit back.
We currently have my '98 Heritage Springer Anniversary Edition (midnight red w/ champagne trim) but when we ordered the '03 RK for my wife (which now has less than 300 miles on it) she refused to buy the AE colors (silver over black), instead choosing the Luxury Rich Red and we did all of the "badging" with the 100th covers.
In 2008, when we ordered her Heritage, again she refused to AE colors (gold over black) and opted for the Crimson Red and we then "badged" it with the 105th covers.
I doubt any of these bikes will be worth much more (if any) than a regular production model but they look nice and we're not planning on selling them anyway.
I don't know who, or how H-D selects the AE colors but I would think that they would make them more attractive and or colorful.
Heck, even the new Chrome Yellow over black would have been a much better choice (IMHO) possibly with a banner stripe to separate the colors?
Being that this may be my last two wheeled purchase, I opted for the CVO Ultra in Typhoon Maroon.

I just watched the first 2013 CVO Road Glide hit eBay about 2 weeks ago... it ended up getting up to $53,100... and the reserve had not yet been reached!!!! Now granted it was serial number 1 of 900... but there is no F'ing way I would pay that much over MSRP for any bike... that is crazy! Here is the link to the auction for those needing a good look at this $53,000 jewel :-) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2013-...orcev4exp=true
I had an '03 RKC. It's long gone now and the used 03's aren't worth anymore than an '02 or '04. Ten years from now these won't be either. Sure you can find someone asking a mint for an '03 with no miles on it but no one is buying.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

He might have only been referring to the CVO model. It's the only bike I really looked at.
Being that this may be my last two wheeled purchase, I opted for the CVO Ultra in Typhoon Maroon.
Now you're really gonna be spoiled. As much as I like the SERG, If it doesn't have the Ultra package on it, I won't have it. Gotta keep momma happy. My SERGU isn't going any where for a while. Unless in another 5 years they offer it in the CVO package AE then I'll trade up.
I don't think they will be sought after...the colors are not that desirable..... they are still drab compared to most other bikes on the floor ... Yawn
....... it's a subtle color scheme for sure, but that pearl brown is real nice when the light hits it
