Hey all, I hv an 09 SG with SE heavy breather/Rush mufflers/download--all else is stock. Every 1000 miles(ish) I hv to add about half a quart of oil. No leaks anywhere, no blue smoke, plugs are normal color as well as exhaust pipes. Anyone have an idea where the hell my my oil is going?
if it is not leaking to the ground, and not leaking into the primary case ( see if the primary level is higher than should be)
oil does get consumed...incrementally ---it leaks past the piston rings, it is churned into an air/oil mist in the crankcase and vented into the intake- then burned. this is normal.
until you see smoke, keep riding.
burning oil makes WHITE smoke.
from the tailpipe on accel indicates piston rings not sealing- worn rings or mis-shapen bore ( worn)
from the tailpipe on decel indicates worn valve seal

Mike..Thx, I'll check for white smoke on accel and decel.
GSF...I've been experimenting with this issue for some time now and definitely not overfilling. Did oil change at 7000 miles a few weeks ago and oil level was at proper line on dipstick when warm. Has gone down by half a quart and I'm now at 8000 miles. No oil coming out anywhere.
