Angry 02 Road King shocks leaking

I adjusted the air pressure in the rear shocks of my Road King only to discover oil in the air lines. The oil also screwed up my new Harley pump which won't bleed down air now. WTF.
I'm wondering if the shocks are rebuildable? I was also wondering if the air pump can be taken apart and cleaned as well?

Thanks
Bob

did you use the small syringe type air pump made for shocks ?

If so, you may be ok, a small amount of oil can be present in the lines esp. if you overpressure and use the release valve to lower the pressure

If you used a pump meant for tires, you probably blew the seals out... a take off set of shocks will probably run $100 or so.

make sure the seller sealed the shocks and stored them upright ( best to pick up locally than ship and get an oily cardboard box from UPS)

Throw them away and get you some regular shocks. I have a set of Progressives that are much finer than the air ones could ever hope to be and they are cheap ones. Lots of options out there like Ohlins and others that are more pricey but worth the money.

I did a search on this problem and will replace with aftermarket shocks. I'm thinking Progressive possibly. I want to keep the stock height so it doesn't change the handeling (steering geometry). Suggestions appreciated.

Thanks
Bob
