I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one to have this happen to. And I get it...about leaving the fob in the saddlebag. But...Normally when I ride it comes out of the garage.....I ride...then right back to the garage. I'm kinda rural here, not many bikes stolen even if they are left around. That was the whole idea of the key in my pocket. I now how the magic card in my wallet...

Practice it and learn it...And read your owners manual there is a lot of information in it.
Once you do it a couple of times you will not need the card it is pretty easy. I use the pin a lot. I have two bikes and always seem to have the wrong key.
The security override takes 10 seconds to input once the pin has been set. Use it a lot when I'm too lazy to walk back into the house for the fob - and that's often!
It's very easy to start the bike without the fob. Cut out the little instruction card that's in the owners manual and carry it in your wallet. It gives simple instructions to start the bike . The pin number has to be written on the card. My original pin was the last 4 numbers of the V.I.N. I have since changed it and wrote it down on the card. Real easy!
On mu 07 Ultra If my fob is 3 feet away from the bike the bike wont start - I keep an extra fob in my trunk wrapped in tinfoil then I keep an extra key hid on the bike held in place with duct tape so i can unlock the trunk to get to my extra fob I did misplace my key & fob one time took me 20 minutes to figure out where I hid the extra key - i also carry an extra battery for the fob in the trunk
