I own 2 biks with fuel injection and both have a Dynojet Power Commander. Unless you want to be a slave to your dealership, you should consider adding a fuel management system that will allow you to make the modifications you want without a dealer visit. I am a gearhead and always do my own work, and have never had a problem with my Power Commander USB III or Power Commander V.

Thanks! Its reassuring. Does a stage one require a tuner of some sort or can I get by without one?

You need a tuner or the SE race tuner from HD

20000 miles on a pcv controlled s&s 106. Not even a hiccup and I get 50 mpg on the highway. In city I get way less but I can't help but twist my wrist.
Dealer download is an EPA approved tune so you gain nothing but a higher rev limit, and a stockish bike powers out before the original rev limit kicks in.
Get anything except a fuel pak or xieds. They are junk. People think that those tuning devices enrichen the a/f and at first they do,but the ecu compensates thereby going right back to it's formerly lean condition.
The o2 sensors need to be deactivated in order for them to work.

I got a similar line of BS a couple of years ago from the dealer i bought my 2010 EG Classic from. Said the PC-V was crap and how they were pulling them out of bikes left and right, and they would only install an HD tuner or do a stage 1 download to the ECM. I walked, went elsewhere, had them install the PC-V I got from Fuel Moto when they did my stage 1 and have been running fine ever since. I now have a 2012 Ultra with the same PC-V unit, just a different map. Still going strong. Never ceases to amaze me how some dealers will out and out lie just to sell you something, and they actually think people don't know any better.

Bikes are E.P.A. "lean-tuned" from the factory. There is some "closed-loop" automatic adjustment with ECU & Oxygen Sensors, but I don't know the limits, just know it's limited (narrow-band). Believe me you will feel the heat, pipes blue easily, lot's of indications from lean 14:1-Air-Cooled motors. Best to go ahead and install a fuel-management module of some kind. From here, opinions vary, on brand and ETC. I personally run a Power Comander V, but soon to switch to a Power Comander Vision, because of direct ECU programming. If you think your bike is worth it, $500 is a good investiment for the results, besides, you might want to upgrade several times. I would say this should be a 1st investment. I learned the "hard-way" on this, learn from others, save time & money!

stage 1 download from a dealer takes the bike back to e.p.a. required lean condition--do not get it. for a little over a $100 you can buy new xied's--plugs into O2 sensors and "tricks" ecm into adding a little more fuel. it will run cooler and smoother. all you need-can find them on here for sale for reasonable price...people use them until they go to a tuner. many people find they are all they need and never add a tuner.

Ive got a 103 SG with VH slip ons but looking to add a heavy breather and headers, (VH power duals), then switch the slip ons to CFRs, their knockoffs or something louder than what I have.
I no didley phukkin' squat about ecms, tuners, mapping, etc and the search function didnt do much help for me. Do I even need a tuner? or will the "ecm flash" from HD for $218 really get me lined up and good to go with the stage 1?

Thanks for the education in advance!

All sellers try to sell whatever they have over what they do not have. Your dealer is an out right liar, I would not go back there again.
