Yeah, yeah...it'll fry your ecu. Not only that but if you use any oil besides Harley oil your engine will sieze! Oh, and make sure you DON'T use syn3 in the tranny or primary...wow, just asking for trouble!!
Gimmee a break.....
I do not run Syn 3 in all three holes. Regular formula in the primary and heavy gear saver in the gear box. Runs much quieter that away.
Read a bunch on here. Many of the dealers/mechanics will try to take advantage of you. Buy the bike, then find a good indept. mechanic and FORGET HD!!!! You can easily tell when someone at the dealership is lying...their lips are moving...I have had my cobra on for 3 years and it runs like a top. Buy an extended warranty from that crew....NOT. Don't give them ANYMORE of your money...
Ran the PCV for 50K with no problems however when ECM did give problems ( Lost TBW and went into Limp mode a lot ) Replaced the ECM under warranty and went with the Power Vision and like it a lot better, as it hooks through the Data Port rather than Piggyback the ECM .. Probably wasn't the PCV that caused it but still like this option better ..
Been runing the Power Comander V for 2 years, no problems with ECM or anything. Got mine from fuel moto, works great. I started with the dealer ECM performance upgrade, but was a "waste-of-money"! The whole thing has to do with volumetric efficiency and Intake & Exhaust changes affect your engine "air-to-fuel" ratio. I learned alot through "trial & error", this is an expensive way, going thru exhaust & intake changes and so forth. Save yourself the head ache, call fuel moto, you will not regret the good experience, I didn't. Your Vtwin, will "love-you-for-it".
Your stock ECU will probably adapt if you don't go any further, but might be a little lean. 'Course it's that way now. The tuners that go down stream from the ECU won't hurt the ECU at all. Dealers just tell you that to sell product. Unless you're lookin' for every last ft/lb of torque & max horsepower consider a ThunderMax Auto Tune, Power Commander with Auto Tune, or Power Vision with Auto Tune. A few bux up front, but no money spent on dyno tuners, & usually the bike will be more rideable. A good dyno tune will get you more power, but good dyno tuners are hard to find. Most are only interested in big numbers, not rideability.
Agreed, no problems at all with my PCV.......dealer BS.....$ being plenty I woulda gone with the TMax, but I bought what I could afford for what I needed it to do.....
