Default PC-V causing limp mode issue? ( kinda long)

My 2011 RK has gone into limp mode twice. Both times I had stopped and turned the bike off for a few seconds and then back on. The bike was real hard to start and then it had no throttle response. I tried cycling the ignition switch but the yellow fuel pump lite would not go off. The only way to get it out of limp mode was to remove the seat and unhook the PC-V from the ECU. then hook it back up. then it will start right up and runs like normal. I tried to re-create the event in the driveway with no results. So is it possible the PC-V is affecting the operation of the ECU? Then unhooking it resets the ECU?
I'd hate to have to go back to a stock head pipe and mufflers.
Thanks for listening. Rock

You could have a bad pcv. It happens. I've run two bikes with a pcv and have not had a single problem. Is your pcv still under warranty? Contact Dynojet.

Most of the concerns with the PCVs involves the connections, check & clean all the pins & put some dielectric grease on them & see if it solves your problems.

Check the connection at the TCA( behind the air cleaner). Pull apart,blow out and put some dialectric grease in there. Put back together good and snug...

i had the same thing happen with my PC V. Took the connector apart at the ECM. Put some grease in it, put it back together and zip tied it. No further problems.

I haven't installed a PCV for a year but I, have installed several of them. I believe the instructions on the PCV specifically tell you to coat the connections with dialectric grease when installed. If you skip that step, you are rollin the dice.

The connectors got greased when installed. It was a used PC-V so no warranty. The thing that gets me is unplugging 1 connector at a time and re hooking them. The bike restarts and runs fine. It never went into limp mode while riding it as I've read some have. Both times it was after pulling over and shutting the bike down and the starting it right back up. Weird. I'll pull the connector off under the AC. Clean, grease and re install.
Thanks for the tips. Rock

Limp mode is a default reaction when the "throttle by wire" detects an "issue" (this could be anything). It does seem that since the system is detecting the resistance values on the throttle, that a poor interconnection to the throttle body (under the air cleaner) puts the bike in limp mode. I have a 09 RK with the PCV and started to have limp mode about a year ago. It's a pain especially when you are in traffic and need to move. Eventually, I had the throttle replaced ($300) and it still did not fix it. It stayed at the dealer another week where they replaced all of the contacts in the throttle body. The dielectric grease may mitigate that requirement. Once they fixed it, it has been running great, PCV and all.

I brought my bike to the shop for limp mode. They said they replaced pin(s) on the PCV plug to the ECM. It was fixed it for a little while but has gone to limp mode several times since. They never mentioned anything about the PCV again.

When your bike goes limp, put a little blue pill in the USB port of the PCV. You should be good for up to 4 hours. After that, call your doctor (or all your old girlfriends).

<Queue up the soft **** music>

I've owned four bikes with a PC of some sort. The only time I had a check engine light was when I got some water in the connection between my then PC-3 and the ECM of my '02 RKC. I dried it out, added more dielectric gease and electrical taped the connection. Problem solved.

My '02 didn't know how to go into limp mode, it just threw up the check engine light.
