Default HogTunes

Thanks to the many good things posted here re HogTunes, I ordered a pair for my RG. Decided that I'd put a Dakota antennae in while I had the fairing apart. Stealer quoted me 4 hours to do it, local indy said he didn't know, so I broke out my service manual and did it myself in about an hour. Tried one HT and one stock speaker - couldn't even hear the stock! Great speaker, and so far I like the Dakota as well.

I wouldn't have tried it without all the guys posting here that they'd done their own!

No need for rears - my RG is so fast the sound would be out of phase

Sounds good Teachu. I just ordered a set for my RG. Where'd you get the Dakota antenna and how much of a pain in the **** it is to remove the fairing? I am almost tempted to have the dealer do it but their service time will buy me more chrome lol.

Thanks

Any dealer can get you the Dakota for ~$80 - Drag Specialties distributes them. My indy shop had it in stock.

If you follow the instructions in the service manual, the fairing is a straightforward job. You CAN do it without removing the windshield, but it's easier to take it off. The manual tells you which screws to put in first to make reassembly easier. The Dakota is a powered antenna, so you'll need a ScotchLoc connector - tap it into the orange wire with the white stripe (accessory circuit). All told, it took about 90 minutes to do everything, including installing the fancy chrome windshield trim I got for Christmas. Five screws in windshield, six inside fairing, three on each speaker, and four nuts on the turn signals. A phillips screwdriver, a 1/2" wrench (ratcheting preferred), a couple of towels for the fender and a blanket to lay the fairing on are all you need - and the service manual!!!!
