try to drill a hole in your brand new 8" Clearview with recurve windshield...it aint drill friendly [:@]....broke right in half [:@][:@]
Nothing like learning from experience. Even tho, tape on each side of winsheild and a dull bit will work. I found the surest, safest way to make an opening in plexiglass/ lexan/ acrylic. I use a soldering iron. It also voids the chance of causing hair-line fractures in the material.

Clearview shields are not Lexan. They are acrylic / plexiglass. Thats why you can polish them when they get scratched.

Drill half way thru, then finish it off from the other side, go slow

sounds kinda cheap and unsafe to have on a bike! what if a rock came up and hit it and it broke that easy and now you have something sharp comming at your face... I was told some of the off brands are not safe for that reason

DUDE...you aint read how it happen'd evidently...it was real cold...had a big dull bit...picked up one end with other on the bench...pushed the bit, flexed the shield, broke it....clearview is one of the premier shields

What a great post! It drew out a lot of informative answers and questions. Keep that dig-camera handy.

I would use some kind of support behind the holes that are to be drilled so the windsheild does not flex.
